Joel Schwartz will be installed as the next president of the Jewish Community Voice at the Federation agency’s 28th Annual Meeting on Monday, June 26. The event will be held in the Katz JCC Social Hall, 1301 Springdale Rd., Cherry Hill. In addition to Schwartz, the program will feature the installation of other officers and Board members as well as a brief presentation by a special guest speaker.

Schwartz, a longtime Voice Board member and current vice president, is a CPA and has been working at the Coalition of Cancer Cooperative Groups for the past 13 years, first as controller and now as assistant director of finance. He has almost 22 years of accounting experience, including over 18 years in the non-profit field. He received his B.S. in Accounting from Towson State University. His work in the non-profit field includes his time as an auditor for Asher & Co., a Certified Public Accounting firm.

Schwartz has been volunteering with Jewish Federation of Southern NJ for the past nine years. He first served as a member of the Young Adult Division (YAD) Steering Committee. He later became vice chair of the YAD Finance Committee, co-chair of the YAD Outreach Committee, chair of the YAD Campaign Cabinet and Leadership Development Committee and finally YAD chair.

He has been a Board member of the Voice since 2013, where he has served as chair of the Finance Committee and vice president. He is also a member of the Federation’s Board of Trustees, where he is also on the Budget and Allocations Committee. Besides the Voice and Federation boards, he is a member of the JCRC Board of Directors. In 2016, he was part of the Frank Family Fellowship leadership program in Poland and Israel, through the JCRC parent organization, the Jewish Council for Public Affairs (JCPA).

Joel and his family, wife Julie, daughter Briana, age 13, and son Micah, age 9, are longtime members of Temple Emanuel. At Emanuel, he has been serving as the Men’s Club treasurer for the past 10 years as well as serving on the Youth Engagement Committee.

In addition to the installation of Joel Schwartz as president; Jan Apple and Eric Rovner will be installed as vice presidents. Albert ElGrissy will become the immediate past president. New to the Voice Board are Andrew Becker, Jodi Berman, Jaclynn Shweky and Marshall Spevak. They will join current members Aaron Aumiller, Chris Boyd, Linda Friedman, Lori Goldstein, Sarah Kaplan, Barry Kirzner, Dr. Neil Levin, Harry Morrow, Judie Morrow, Barbara Pick, Dr. Benjamin Rosenblum, Harriet Schulman, and James Weiss. Honorary Board members are Rabbi Benjamin David and Sibyl Gass. The Annual Meeting will also recognize outgoing Board members Betty Adler, Dr. Barnard Kaplan, Suzanne Magaziner, and Cindy Yellin.

The Voice Annual Meeting and program begins at 7 p.m. There is a pre-program dinner at 5:45 p.m. The event is being sponsored by Apple Physical Therapy, LLC. Suzanne Magaziner is event chair.

The cost for the program, dinner, and dessert is $40. The cost to attend the Annual Meeting and program only is $10.

Dinner reservations must be made by Thursday, June 22. at 12 noon. Those attending the program only may pay at the door.
