Be a Super Sunday Hero on January 27 to someone in need

FEDERATION 411
JENNIFER DUBROW WEISS
Jewish Federation CEO

It’s hard to believe that another year has passed and another Super Sunday/Week is nearly here! For those of you who don’t already know, Super Sunday is the Federation’s largest fundraising event of the year. It brings all of our agencies, departments, and supporting organizations together with the goal of raising the necessary dollars to care for those in need and change lives—locally and around the globe.

I want to extend a personal invitation to our entire community to join us in making 2019 another successful year here at the Jewish Federation. Whether you are making the call or taking the call, you are giving the gift of hope to someone in need. Last year, Super Sunday and Super Week raised over $1-million dollars, but I know our community can do even better this time. That is why we need YOU and YOUR support. You can support Jewish South Jersey by MAKING the call as one of our volunteers on Super Sunday or during Super Week. If you don’t have time, or calling isn’t your “thing,” then simply ANSWER the call, and pledge your support to the incredible programs and services that positively impact the lives of those in our community every day.

Everything we do here at the Jewish Federation of Southern NJ is focused on and prioritized in five Areas of Impact: Older Adults, Special Needs, Global Connections, Community Engagement, and Family & Youth. Your gifts support programming for each of these Areas of Impact and touch individual lives in an important way. You’re providing underprivileged youth with literacy programs and giving teenagers with special needs job coaching so they can live independent and vibrant lives. Your gift provides Holocaust awareness to school-aged children and gives older adults the benefit of life-long learning classes and kosher meals-on-wheels.

Super Sunday/Week is not only our biggest fundraiser of the year, but also an opportunity to come together as one to make real change in our South Jersey community and in countries around the world. Some 400 volunteers come out each year to make the call on Super Sunday, and more still come out during Super Week. It’s a powerful sight to see so many of our community members—our family— come together to make a difference. This is the strength of a people and the power of community. Teaching our children about tzedakah and instilling the importance of tikkun olam—this is where a strong Jewish community begins and thrives.

Come out this Super Sunday/Week and be an everyday hero to someone in need. Help us strengthen the amazing and vibrant Jewish community we have right here in South Jersey. Super Sunday begins Sunday, Jan. 27, and runs through Super Week, Jan. 28-31.

Since we know that not everyone answers their phone or has the time to chat, some of you might even see a text message from Jewish Federation to confirm your decision to continue supporting our Jewish South Jersey community with a pledge to JFund.

A special thanks to our presenting sponsor M. Rosenblatt Roofing Company, and to the Marvin Samson Foundation for its challenge grant! The Samson Foundation will match any new or increased pledge, doubling the impact of your gift.

Registration is now open to volunteer for Super Sunday/- Week! Phone callers are where we need volunteers the most. Just one call can feed a family, connect generations, and change a life.
