OBITUARIES

PHILIP E. GARBER, 68, of Cherry Hill, passed away on Sept. 1. Born in Syracuse, NY in 1949, Phil graduated from Nottingham High School in 1967. He attended the School of Industrial Labor Relations at Cornell University, graduating in 1971. Upon graduation from the University of Chicago Law School in 1974, Phil joined the Labor Department at Wolf, Block, Schorr, and Solis-Cohen in Philadelphia, where he practiced until 2009. From 2009 until the present time, he was a partner at Duane Morris in Philadelphia. Phil was a member of Temple Beth Sholom in Cherry Hill for 40 years. He is survived by his wife Ellen, daughters Jessica (Alex) Sedler and Amy Garber, his brother David (Joyce) Garber and his sister Rosalie (Lawrence) Young. Contributions may be made to the Camp Ramah Fund of Temple Beth Sholom or the Dr. David Andrews Brain Tumor Research Fund at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. DR. STANLEY HILLS, PhD, has passed. Chemist, Researcher, Inventor, and Professor; Athlete, Dancer, Lover of Music, Gardener; The Bronx Bomber; Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Step Father. Stanley was passionate about science, devoted to his family, and active in his community. He took joy in music, books, movement, sports, study, and good food. He will be greatly missed. HERBERT KARASICK, 101, passed away on Aug. 27 at Seashore Gardens Living Center, Galloway Township. Husband of the late Sylvia Karasick, father of Frank (Martha) Karasick, grandfather of Matthew (Mica) Karasick and Rachel (Basem) Makar, great-grandfather of Corey and Lucas Makar and Makani Karasick.
