Katz JCC Sports Award Dinner honorees to be celebrated Sept. 17

DONNA ROSE…will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. DONNA ROSE…will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. The Katz JCC Sports Award Dinner, which is scheduled for this coming Monday, Sept. 17, is a time to recognize members of the community who are dedicated to providing for others. This year’s exceptional lineup of honorees is one to be celebrated.

Donna Rose is this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. Rose and her family have been JCC members for many years and her involvement at the JCC is unparalleled. She has served as the JCC Maccabi Games delegation chair for Team South Jersey and also took on the crucial role of co-chair of administration when the Katz JCC hosted the JCC Maccabi Games in 2014. Rose has also served as the operations chair of the JCC’s Sports Award Dinner since its inception in 2008 and is a current JCC Board Member.

This year’s David Back Memorial Maccabi Award is awarded to siblings Ali and Matt Karpousis. This award is presented to a Team South Jersey JCC Maccabi Games athlete or athletes who display strong leadership qualities on and off the field and display a strong sense of Jewish identity.

Ali is a four-time Team South Jersey medal-winning swimmer who is an avid volunteer with both the Cathedral Kitchen and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. She is an ambassador for Eastern High School and a member of the National Honor Society.

Matt is also a four-time Team South Jersey athlete, who played baseball and has brought home multiple medals. He is an active volunteer for the Indian Cultural Center, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, and is a volunteer coach for the Gibbsboro Voorhees Athletic Association (GVAA).

This year’s People’s Choice Award recipient is Keith Morgan, who is a long-time volunteer at the JCC through the Junior Maccabi youth basketball program, Mid-Atlantic Junior Maccabi Games, JCC Maccabi Games, and the ACHaD Squadron Basketball Program. He also dedicated his time as the transportation co-chair when the Katz JCC hosted the JCC Maccabi Games in 2014.

In addition to these four individuals being honored for their accomplishments, the Sports Award Dinner will also feature keynote speakers Jason Kelce and Malcolm Jenkins of the Philadelphia Eagles. Kelce and Jenkins will speak about the impact of sports in their lives, and certainly will touch upon their experience leading up to, during, and following their Super Bowl Championship win in 2018.
