JWV helps lead Memorial Day observance



Colonel Nelson L Mellitz, USAF, Ret. and JWV National Quartermaster, addressed the audience at the recent Cherry Hill Township Memorial Day Ceremony. The leadership of Cherry Hill Township, American Legion Post 372, and Jewish War Veterans Post 126 teamed together to organize and present the Memorial Day ceremony. The event took place at the Township War Memorial and speakers recognized Cherry Hill citizens who were lost in military service to our country during WWII through the current wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Global War on Terrorism. Navy Seaman Kenneth A. Smith’s name was added to the memorial during this ceremony, and his family was recognized. Seaman Smith was killed in action while recently serving on the USS McCain in the Pacific Ocean.
