JCC offers 2 musical brunches this month

Attention classical and Jewish music lovers! The JCC in Margate will offer two musical Brunch & Learn programs on April 17 and 26.

“A Journey Through Jewish Music” will be the theme on Tuesday, April 17, starting at 10:30. During this musical brunch, violinist David Podles will use Jewish music to illustrate the resilience of the Jewish soul. Podles will showcase Sephardic, Jewish and Hebrew pieces in this heartfelt and exciting trip through Jewish musical history. He will also demonstrate original niguns, playful freilehs and beautiful songs of prayer. His performance will be followed by a showing of the movie “Wagner’s Jews: Can Art Transcend Prejudice?”

On Thursday, April 26, starting at 10:30 a.m., accomplished singer/musician Shlomo Shai will lead a musical Brunch & Learn on “Yiddishkeit From Around the World.” Shai, a versatile entertainer, boasts a repertoire that includes Yiddish, Israeli, Klezmer, Ladino, Jewish, English, and Russian hits, plus international, dance and jazz standards. Attendees are sure to enjoy Shai’s exciting performance and great rapport with his audience. Shai’s presentation will by followed by the film “Havah Nagilla: The Movie.”
