National Water Safety Month at the Katz JCC

After a long and snowy winter, most of us are eager for the warm weather of summer to arrive. Many of the outdoor activities planned with your family may include trips to the beach or swimming pools, so it is important that everyone in your family is water safe. National Water Safety Month begins in May, and there’s no better time to introduce your family to the Katz JCC’s Lenny Krayzelburg Swim Academy (LKSA).

The Lenny Krayzelburg Swim Academy at the Katz JCC, which was founded by Olympic gold medal swimmer Lenny Krayzelburg, offers water survival skills as well as stroke enhancement for all ages, beginning at three months through adulthood. LKSA offers a safe and nurturing environment where swimming is a respected, healthy, fun and safe sport for everyone, and teaches all students to be safe and comfortable in the water.

“Believe it or not, for children between the ages of 1 through 14, drowning is the second leading cause of injury-related deaths, according to the CDC,” said Jared Kaufman, Aquatics director. “It’s never too early to get prepared for summer; Water Safety Month is right around the corner. We encourage everyone to take swim lessons, no matter what age, to increase their knowledge and confidence in and around the water.”

New LKSA students who enroll from now through May will receive their first lesson free in the first full month of lessons. To learn more about the Lenny Krayzelburg Swim Academy at the Katz JCC, please contact the LKSA Swim Office at lksainfo@jfedsnj.org or call (856) 424-4444, ext. 1722.
