Sherri Quintero becomes new JCC Early Childhood Camp director

SHERRI QUINTERO… lifelong member of the Katz JCC community. SHERRI QUINTERO… lifelong member of the Katz JCC community. The Katz JCC has announced that Sherri Quintero has been hired as the new ECC Camp director. She has been part of the JCC community her whole life, and her experience with camp started as a child and continued throughout the years doing all types of different jobs within camp. Most recently, she held the position of assistant director of Camp Hilltop. The Jewish community of Southern New Jersey has shaped her life and led her down the path of becoming an educator.

As STEM coordinator and teacher for Kellman Brown Academy, Quintero spends her school year engaging children to establish a strong understanding in science and technology. She also volunteers her time to her synagogue by running a program for preschoolers at Cong. Beth Tikvah.

“I strongly believe that children learn best when they are having fun. Exposing them to open-ended learning experiences develops the problem-solving skills and grit needed in today’s technology driven world,” Quintero explained, “This year’s camp theme, ‘be your own super hero’ will weave in Jewish values with character development education in addition to STEAM, which will show the super powers of their brains.”

“We are very excited for this summer’s camp season. In addition to Sherri, we are also thrilled to welcome Sharon Gosizk as our new assistant director and Becky Springel as the new program specialist,” said Donna Snyder, director of Early Childhood & Family Engagement. “This team will help bring a fresh perspective within Early Childhood Camps and bring everything within arts & crafts, outdoor play, sports, nature and creative fitness to another level.”
