The Jewish Community Relations Council is thrilled to present its guest speakers and Israel Advocacy Award recipients at the 49th Annual Middle East Institute, taking place at Cong. Beth El on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. This year’s keynote speaker is Ambassador Dani Dayan, the Israeli Consul General in New York. Also speaking will be Chloé Valdary, a Christian Zionist and media advocate for the State of Israel. To close out the night, Helene and Alan Blumenfeld will be honored with the 2018 JCRC Israel Advocacy Award for their dedication to the State of Israel.

Ambassador Dayan represents the State of Israel to communities from throughout New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Delaware. His role as the Consul General is to promote the positive image of Israel in the media and the surrounding communities by updating citizens with information on Israeli personalities and developments. He is most commonly found commenting on Israel-based issues in broadcast and print media. Dayan is often called upon to visit universities and major conferences. Not only is Ambassador Dayan a successful politician and Israel advocate, but he is also a successful entrepreneur. This is his first time speaking to the South Jersey community.

Chloé Valdary is a Christian Zionist out of New Orleans, Louisiana. She is a rising star in the pro-Israel movement, visiting universities and political conferences to change the conversation about Israel. She served as a Tikvah Fellow under Pulitzer Prize-winner Bret Stephens at the Wall Street Journal, where she engaged with millennials in Israel advocacy. Valdary writes articles for numerous news outlets as well, and she has appeared on television and radio. She currently serves as a Shillman Fellow and Director of Partnerships and Outreach at Jerusalem U. She is extremely active on YouTube, where she speaks out against anti-Israel efforts to boycott all Israeli products to hurt Israel’s economy.

The annual JCRC Israel Advocacy Award will be presented to Helene and Alan Blumenfeld for their numerous efforts to support the State of Israel. Alan served as president of the Jewish National Fund of Southern New Jersey (JNFSNJ) for years, and eventually became the president for all of JNF’s New Jersey chapters. Helene currently serves as the Women for Israel Chair of JNFSNJ. The Blumenfelds remain ardent supporters of Magen David Adom, the IDF and the FIDF. They also support Hillel at the University of Washington and the University of Arizona. Helene and Alan have each led missions to Israel to teach participants the importance of Israel’s role in making the world a better place.
