Live music and beer proved to be an ideal combination for bringing the Jewish community together on Saturday, November, 18, when Shirat Hayam hosted a “Tune Saloon” at the Tuckahoe Brewing Company in Egg Harbor Township. About 65 people representing many different congregations and denominations came out to listen to music, perform and enjoy libations with other community members.

The gathering at Tuckahoe Brewing Company evolved out of several successful open-mic coffee houses held at Shirat Hayam last year. This year, synagogue leaders decided to try something different, said Gary Poetsch, who planned the event.

“It really brought the community together,” said Shirat Hayam Rebetzin Ellie Kremer. s
