Shelly and Gabrielle Abramson of Southern New Jersey were both recently honored at the Jewish National Fund Sapphire and Chai Women’s Shabbat Luncheon at JNF’s recent National Conference in Florida. In addition, more than 20 members of the Southern New Jersey Jewish community from Camden and Atlantic Counties attended the annual event that brought together more than 1,200 participants from the U.S., including 250 college students from over 100 campuses.

Shelly Abramson, Jewish National Fund’s Southern NJ Events chair, was presented with a Circle of Sapphire necklace honoring her lifetime giving of $100,000, while her daughter, Gabrielle, board member for Eastern PA’s JNFuture Young Professionals (JNF’s affinity group for 22-40-year olds), was presented with her own Jewish National Fund Sapphire Society necklace by her mother. “I wanted to do this for my daughter, Gaby, so that she can begin the next generation of future Women for Israel Sapphires,” Shelly explained.

“I am very proud to see how engaged the members of our Board of Directors and community are with Jewish National Fund both on a local level in Southern New Jersey, and nationally, as well,” said Betsy Fischer, Jewish National Southern NJ regional president. “It is very exciting to see the different counties within our region of New Jersey coming together to celebrate and support Jewish National Fund’s work in Israel.”

Conference programs in which participants could take part included the JNF in Israel Expo; high School and college tracks; educational break-out sessions, such as, “Defeating BDS with Positively Israel Activism on College Campuses,” which was sponsored by Eva and Marvin Schlanger; an Israel@70 plenary led by Israel@70 Missions Chair Robert Benedon; a Major Donor Reception; and a gala dinner with new Jewish National Fund President Dr. Sol Lizerbram.
