Be a “Superhero for Alzheimer’s” at SGLC’s 5K Run/Walk April 30

Put on your superhero cape and get ready to run or walk for a good cause at the 7th Annual Seashore Gardens 5K Run & Health Walk on Sunday, April 30, on the Atlantic City Boardwalk at Tropicana Casino & Resort. Proceeds from this fundraising event will benefit the Alzheimer’s Outreach Services at Seashore Gardens Living Center.

The race begins at 9 a.m. The awards ceremony will take place at 9:45 a.m. and will feature Diane Mitchell from WAYV’s Mike & Diane Show as master of ceremonies. Free parking is offered from 7 a.m. to noon at the Tropicana Havana Tower parking garage. Refreshments will be provided following the race.

Participants are encouraged to run or walk in a superhero costume to be a “superhero for Alzheimer’s!” Costumes are not required but prizes will be awarded for the best costume, best family or group costume, and best children’s costume.

Cash prizes also will be awarded for the top finishers. These include the top three male and female runners in the 5K. First place winners receive $250; second place winners receive $150; and third place winners receive $100. In addition, there will be medals for top three male and female winners in their age group. Wheelchair participants also are welcome.

Pre-registration is available until Friday, April 28. The cost is $30 per person and includes a performance t-shirt. Same-day registration will be available at the race starting at 7:15 a.m. for $40 per person, and does not include the t-shirt.

The 5K will be run on a certified course. The Health Walk is a non-timed version of the same route. Both routes will start and end at Tropicana Casino & Resort.
