Young Israel children give back to police

The Young Israel of Cherry Hill youth department spent a recent morning giving back through its “Cupcakes for Cops” program. Children ages 3-12 baked and decorated fresh cupcakes at the shul. A group of 30 children and their parents then drove over to the police station on Mercer Street to hand deliver the cupcakes to the police officers, who warmly welcomed both the cupcakes and the children. Rabbi Jonathan Bienenfeld, Young Israel rabbi, and members of the programming committee felt that after Chanukah, when so much time is spent receiving, it is important for the children to be giving back to the officers who keep the community safe.
