Marvin Samson Foundation renews Challenge Grant

MARVIN SAMSON MARVIN SAMSON The Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey once again announces the renewal of the Marvin Samson Foundation Super Sunday Challenge Grant for 2017. This is the seventh year for this initiative. The Challenge Grant will match new or increased pledges made to JFund, formerly the Annual Campaign, during Super Sunday on Jan. 29.

“For many years, I gave anonymously,” said Samson. “At some point, I realized I could encourage more people to give if they knew I did. We can make more of a difference for our community if we bond together and share in the responsibility of helping those less fortunate. Tikkun olam.”

Samson has had a long and illustrious career in the field of pharmaceuticals and technology. He is currently the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Samson Medical Technologies, LLC, and holds five U.S. patents pertaining to pharmaceutical manufacturing. Samson is recognized in South Jersey and beyond as a committed philanthropist to many causes within both the Jewish and secular communities.

“My contemporaries I knew, of course, could give; others maybe would give if they knew me or my family, but most importantly, I want my children and grandchildren to continue giving long after I am no longer able. L’dor v’dor. We are all so much better off than most people in the world; how can we not give something? And how else can we teach our children to be grateful for all we have?” said Samson.

He added, “It is not about what we tell our children; it is what they see us doing. You want to raise a mensch? Be a mensch. We have to give back to truly gain anything of value in return. And believe me, the feeling I get from knowing and seeing the good that comes from helping others far exceeds anything you can buy.”

Super Sunday 2017 will take place on Jan. 29 at the Katz JCC in Cherry Hill. Learn more at jewishsouthjersey.org/supersunday.
