Keep Federation and its agencies in mind when planning a year-end gift

As the secular year comes to a close, I hope it’s been a happy and a healthy year for all of you. This is the time of year when many people make a final year-end charitable gift. In that vein, I encourage you to consider either a new or an additional gift to Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey or one of its agencies.

The Jewish Federation is there whenever—and wherever—someone is in need. It may be a person in our community, like an elderly Holocaust survivor who can no longer care for himself or herself and needs assistance to age in place in his or her own home. It might be someone halfway around the world, like the last remaining Jews of Yemen, besieged by war and a growing Islamist insurgency. The bottom line is, it doesn’t matter where, when, or how—if the welfare and survival of Jewish people are threatened, our Jewish Federation is there.

Federation and its agencies bring hope to struggling families through job training, our food pantries, counseling services, and so much more. We advocate to federal, state, and local governments, opposing those threatening Israel’s legitimacy, and pressing for law-enforcement protection for our schools and synagogues.

Federation can be found on the front lines of the war in Ukraine, delivering emergency supplies and evacuating Jews to safety after their homes are destroyed by mortar fire.

Federation connects people to Jewish life by supporting preschools, day schools, and community centers.

The Jewish Federation counts on the support and generosity of our South Jersey community to keep our Jewish community thriving: Enhancing Jewish life, strengthening Jewish identity, and providing Jewishly for those in need.

For those 70 1/2 and older, an IRA charitable rollover distribution is an easy and convenient way of making a meaningful gift to the Jewish Federation’s JFund campaign—and a tax savings for 2016 as this type of distribution isn’t counted as income, yet still counts toward your required minimum distribution for the year.

December 31 is your last chance to make a gift and reap the tax benefits for 2016. If you have not yet made your 2016 gift to the Jewish Federation or you wish to add to your previous gift, we encourage you to do so now by visiting jewishsouthjersey.org/jfund. Your gift can make a world of difference in someone’s life.

I hope it’s been a prosperous year for all of you. As you give gifts to your loved ones this holiday season, please consider a new or increased gift to JFund. You may never meet these recipients of your generosity, but I guarantee your generosity will be appreciated and will make a meaningful impact in the recipients’ lives.

There are many ways to give and we appreciate your generosity in making this world a better place to live. Give today…and make an impact on someone’s life at jewishsouthjersey.org/jfund
