Meet ‘White Walls’ author Judy Batalion Nov. 16

Jewish Women’s Philanthropy is proud to offer an intimate meet and greet session with Judy Batalion, author of “White Walls: A Memoir About Motherhood, Daughterhood, and the Mess in Between” on Wednesday, Nov. 16.

Following her 11 a.m. session at the Bank of America Festival of Arts, Books, and Culture at the Katz JCC, she will take part in a meet and greet with light refreshments. This gathering is reserved for women who make a minimum annual individual gift of $750, or are part of households that make a minimum annual gift of $1,000. The cost to attend this intimate gathering is $20 per person and will include a copy of the book.

“White Walls” is a memoir of the comedian’s life growing up in a house filled with piles of junk, old magazines, and VHS tapes amassed by her hoarder mother. Judy escapes the clutter by creating a world of order, regimen, and white walls, until she finds herself entangled in life’s biggest chaos—motherhood. Told with heartbreaking honesty and humor, she explores the messiness of motherhood, the search for a home, the emotional legacy of the Holocaust, how trauma passes from one generation to the next, and the marks that mothers and daughters make on each other’s lives.

The Jewish Federation’s Women’s Philanthropy engages Jewish women in the fulfilling work of making the world a better place. They connect women through friendship, learning, and the Jewish values of Tikkun olam (repairing the world) and tzedakah (charity). We are building and supporting Jewish life for today and for generations to come.

Those interested in this intimate gathering with Judy Batalion should RSVP to Michele Glik by Nov 9. Call Michele at (856) 751-9500, ext.1199 or by emailing mglik@jfedsnj.org
