Our community is stronger because of Vicki Zell’s leadership

Jewish Federation CEO

It’s hard to believe that time flies so quickly. It has been two years since Vicki Zell became the president of the Jewish Federation. During that time, we have attended 832 meetings together, spent hundreds of hours planning, and attended hundreds of community-wide and agency events. The community has witnessed the rise of Comm- UNITY during Vicki’s presidency; the Burlington County & Gloucester County Task Forces, the Day School Task Force, and the Presidents Council.

Vicki has provided concrete outreach and innovative ideas through Shark Tank, Yad b’Yad and the Educators Awards. She is committed to the development of the property at 1721 to serve unmet needs in the community. Vicki is the best cheerleader for our community and all aspects of who we are and who we can become.

Vicki has devoted almost every waking hour (and her sleep also) to her “job” as president. She takes work home with her every evening and starts over again the next morning, sometimes putting in 12+ hours a day to her “volunteer” position. She listens to individual issues, organizations who need assistance, and provides advice and leadership to all. Vicki is a natural born leader and has given birth and provided the continuity for the Federation Leadership Institute, our most successful leadership development program to date.

Vicki has taken on hard issues, including budgets, allocations,

Israel & Overseas, and made progress in our more challenging of opportunities. Vicki is full of grace, passion, poise and calm.

Vicki introduced me to a song two years ago, which became our theme song. The song is “We are Building” by Jay Rapoport: We are building the future With our hearts and our hands. We are building shelter for those in need We are building community our souls to feed. We are building a homeland so all can be free. We are building for you and me.

Vicki, thank you for all you have built—we are stronger and better for having YOU! s jweiss@jfedsnj.org
