Excited about the new year at South Jersey Region-BBYO are (from left), Owen Soler, Josh Goldstein and Marc Ginsberg. On the night of Aug. 28, the South Jersey Region hosted its first event of the 2016-2017 programming year. Nearly 200 South Jersey teens came together at the JCC Camps at Medford to “kick off” the new year. The theme for this event was to wear all white. Each teen was given a water gun filled with neon paint, making everyone’s white outfits glow under the black lights. The teens danced the night away with music provided by Cherry Hill East senior Adam Goldenberg; participated in glow in the dark sports; and just had fun hanging with friends they have been separated from all summer.

Seth Heller, a member of Otzma AZA, said, “It was great being able to see my friends and feeling the great vibe of BBYO again after the summer.”

Chelsea Stern, a member of Dafna BBG, said, “SJR’s White Out Kickoff started off this year so well and gave everyone a glimpse of what BBYO has to offer in the upcoming months. A night of reuniting old friends and meeting new ones along with glow sticks and an amazing DJ was the perfect way to kick off this term!”

With such high attendance, and the event being a major success, the regional board is looking forward to the rest of this year. This event showed us that with the fresh ideas and charisma that this term’s board has to offer, we will continue to grow SJR and host fun, popular, and exciting events. The members of South Jersey Region have a lot they can look forward to. Each regional chapter will be kicking off their year as well within the next week—hosting a variety of fun events such as BBQs, sports events, and mall scavenger hunts. Shortly thereafter, this year’s AZAA flag football season will begin, where the brother Alephs compete on the field for pride and glory while having fun with friends. As well, Regional Leadership Training Institute is right around the corner. The year’s first regional convention, members will participate in many different programs designed to boost the leadership qualities needed for life in and out of BBYO.

This year has started with a bang and is primed and ready to keep going at the same pace. Members of South Jersey Region can expect powerful programming, fun activities, and great times making memories with friends as this year progresses. There are plenty of exciting and impactful programs, events, and conventions yet to come as the 2016-2017 programming year blasts off! s
