Richard Lipsky; community leader

Richard Lipsky, who was active with the Jewish Federation and its agencies, passed away on Aug. 14. A resident of Cinnaminson, he served as chair of the Jewish Federation’s Dept. of Jewish Education. He was also a board member of both the Jewish Federation and the Katz JCC in Cherry Hill.

Jewish Federation CEO Jennifer Dubrow Weiss said that Mr. Lipsky will be missed by the entire community. “His tireless work as a lay leader on behalf of our Federation and its agencies laid the foundation for numerous successful programs and services.” She added that the Federation and its agencies would not have the strength they do today without his leadership.

Les Cohen, JCC executive director, said that Mr. Lipsky loved Jewish learning and encouraged the JCC to offer more opportunities for adult learners to come together for this purpose. “He was a member of the JCC Board, and even when not feeling well continued to be interested in our success and continued to support us,” said Cohen, who first met Mr. Lipsky when he was a leader in the Federation asking questions about the JCC budget. “I remember him as thorough and fair. He was a trusted advisor and friend,” he said.

He was the beloved husband of Gail Lipsky. Father of Beth (David) Misselhorn and Deborah Lipsky. Grandfather of Sarah, Brianna and Tori. Contributions may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, www.bcrfcure.org. PLATT MEMORIAL CHAPELS, Inc. s
