Incredible work being done at 1721

When most of us think about Jewish Federation, we think about the Weinberg Campus and Katz JCC, and all of the amazing programming that takes place there. But just down the road, the Jewish Federation and its family of agencies are delivering a host of other incredible services at The Commons, located at 1721 Springdale Road.

Samost Jewish Family & Children’s Service (JFCS) operates the TOPS Program (To Our Positive Success) out of The Commons. This extremely successful and exciting day program for those with special needs provides a structured schedule of activities that change monthly. These activities include exercise, music, cooking, creative arts, day trips, evening outings, and more. For more information or to volunteer, you can contact Amy Block by calling (856) 424-1333, or email ablock@jfedsnj.org

The Commons is also home to the Soups and Sweets program from JFCS. This is a six-month food service training program designed to provide young adults with special needs an opportunity to gain transferrable culinary skills. They work in a kitchen and prepare a variety of soups and desserts, which are sold to customers, businesses, and organizations in the community. Upon completion, JFCS assists participants with job placement in the food service industry. For information on the JFCS Soups and Sweets Program, call (856) 424-1333, or email soupsandsweets@jfedsnj.org

And there’s more. The Commons is one of the locations for Philly Art Center. Its gymnasium is used for JCC’s ACHaD Department (Achieving Community Hopes and Dreams) Over-21 Basketball League and the Atlantic Valley Volleyball Club. And it will be the future home office for Aleph Home Care of Southern New Jersey.

So take pride next time you drive by the facility at 1721 Springdale Road in Cherry Hill. It is just another extension of the incredible work that is being done by The Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey and its family of agencies.
