Future leaders can sign up for next year

The Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey just wrapped up its third cohort of the Federation Leadership Institute (FLI), a program designed to inspire key Jewish community leaders who are committed to a better tomorrow. The third year of the FLI program ended with 20 graduates who participated in six sessions over the course of the year.

Our graduates learned a lot during those six sessions: The impact we make as Jewish communal leaders on our local South Jersey Jewish community and on Jewish communities in Israel and overseas. Leadership styles, best practices, and what it means to be a leader. How to fundraise as a board member and tell your agency’s story. Participants also worked in small groups on a marketing project and met with current agency leadership—our presidents and executives— to hear firsthand what being a leader means to them.

Over 100 people have participated in the FLI program since its inception three years ago and the Jewish Federation is excited to get started on year four! FLI is a great opportunity for both new and not-so-new leaders in the community. Next year’s topics include: Jewish values in leadership, developing relationships with other lay leaders in the community, managing useful meetings, leaders as listeners, staff and volunteer relationships, the role of a board in fundraising, and telling your story/elevator pitch.
