AEFTY looking forward to exciting end-of-year activities

ZACHARY SNIDER ZACHARY SNIDER Hello! My name is Zachary Snider, and I am currently the fundraising vice president of AEFTY. In my free time, I enjoy drawing and playing basketball.

To celebrate Purim, AEFTY helped to run the annual Purim carnival, which consisted of games, costumes, food, and prizes. “Gold” tokens were awarded for costumes, games, and winners of all ages. The congregation enjoyed the fun, and the children had a great time.

At our yearly shul-in, we kicked off the night with social action. Participants made blankets to be donated to hospitalized patients, and hygiene kits with donated toiletries. Later, we traveled to ComedySportz in Philadelphia to have some “Laughty with AEFTY.” Finally, to further educate the community on anti-Semitism and stereotypes all around us, AEFTY board ran a program that mixed stereotypes in media. The inspirational program encouraged individuals to think before they speak, and to differentiate between stereotyping and discrimination. For this program, AEFTY was awarded the Sunshine Award from NFTY-PAR.

Recently, AEFTY had 15 participants attend NFTYPAR Spring Kallah at Camp Harlam from April 8-10. At this event, we engaged in Friday and Saturday night services, examined fate in inspirational programming, and bid farewell to our seniors. While the seniors would not be eligible for another NFTY event due to their age, NFTY celebrated the fun times the community has experienced with them.

As this was being written, AEFTY was looking forward to elections. Currently, positions that are being contested include president, programming vice, religious and cultural vice, social action vice, membership vice, fundraising vice, and communications vice. Following elections, transportation will be provided to Men’s Club bowling from the synagogue. Our annual Hershey Park trip is on April 30! Being a lover of roller coasters and theme parks, this is one of my favorite events.

The AEFTY family service, for the congregation, will be held on May 6. We look forward to seeing AEFTY represent us here. In the distant future, AEFTY will conclude the year with a final event, its annual Ocean City trip. The following day, June 5, a banquet will be celebrated at Adath. The theme is soon to be revealed! .
