Superheroes race against Alzheimer’s April 17

Put on your superhero cape and get ready to run or walk for a good cause at the 6th Annual Seashore Gardens 5K Run & Health Walk on Sunday, April 17, on the Atlantic City Boardwalk at Tropicana Casino & Resort. Proceeds from this fundraising event will benefit the Alzheimer’s Outreach Services at Seashore Gardens Living Center, an independent nonprofit Home for the Aged in Galloway Township.

The race begins at 9 a.m. Diane Mitchell from WAYV’s Mike & Diane Show will serve as master of ceremonies for the awards ceremony to follow at 9:45 a.m. Free parking is available from 7 a.m. to noon at the Tropicana Havana Tower parking garage. Refreshments will be provided following the race, which is sponsored by AtlantiCare and Tropicana Casino & Resort.

Although costumes are not required, participants are encouraged to “Be a Superhero for Alzheimer’s” by running or walking in a superhero costume. Prizes will be awarded for the best costume, best family or group costume and best children’s costume. Cash prizes will be awarded for the top three male and female runners in the 5K. There also will be an award for the largest team and the largest fundraising team. Wheelchair participants are welcome.

Pre-registration, which costs $30 per person, can be done until Friday, April 15, at seashoregardensrun.org . Participants can also register on the day of the race starting at 7:15 a.m. for $40 per person.
