Just one gift on Super Sunday can change a life forever

FEDERATION 411
JENNIFER DUBROW WEISS
Jewish Federation CEO

It’s hard to believe that another year has passed and another Super Sunday/Week is nearly here! I want to extend a personal invitation to our entire community to join us in making 2016 another successful year here at the Jewish Federation. Whether you are making the call or taking the call, you are giving the gift of hope to someone in need. You are putting food on someone’s table. You are connecting our generations— young and old— and building community. You are taking a stand for peace and harmony. Just one gift can change a life.

Super Sunday/Week is not only our biggest fundraiser of the year, but also an opportunity to come together as one to make real change in our South Jersey community and in 90 countries around the world. Some 400 volunteers come out each year to make the call on Super Sunday and more still come out during Super Week. It’s a powerful sight to see so many of our community members—our family— come together to make a difference. Whole families— children, teens, parents, and even grandparents—come out to volunteer. This is the strength of a people and the power of community. Teaching our children the power of tzedakah and instilling the importance of tikkun olam—this is where a strong Jewish community begins.

When you give the gift of your time—or your money—you are helping to build Federation. And by building Federation, you are providing a network of support that touches every stage in life. From adoption support and infant care to early childhood education, literacy programs for underprivileged youth, and free Jewish books sent monthly to your home. From health and wellness facilities and services to social and recreational programming for children, teens, adults, and seniors. From Holocaust awareness and education to teen advocacy programs and interfaith commissions that open dialogue in our South Jersey community. From scholarships and community grants to financial assistance, subsidized services, and three area food pantries for those struggling to make ends meet. From job placement/coaching services and culinary training programs for individuals with special needs to social and recreational programming for that same population. From homecare and kosher meals-on-wheels to caregiver and patient support programs for seniors.

Raising dollars to strengthen the great community in which we all live is a priority of our Federation. Allocating the resources is a process we undertake both cautiously and with passion. When dollars are raised, we can strengthen our Jewish agencies and institutions here, in Israel, and around the world. In order to meet the needs we need YOU to ANSWER THE CALL!

Come out this Super Sunday/Week and be an everyday hero to someone in need. Help us strengthen this amazing and vibrant Jewish community we have right here in South Jersey. Help us build and strengthen Jewish communities around the world—in Israel and in 90 other countries. Super Sunday/Week 2016 runs from Jan. 31 through Feb. 4. Volunteer today!
