HAROLD SARSHIK, 93, of Boca Raton, formerly of Cherry Hill and Moorestown, passed away on Oct. 12. Born Jan. 14, 1922 in Philadelphia, Harold graduated from Temple University in 1943. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, landing on Normandy three days after D-Day and receiving a Purple Heart for his combat service in Europe during World War II. Harold was a leading residential and commercial real estate developer in Southern New Jersey for 50 years, including building the community of Woodcrest in Cherry Hill, most of the houses there, together with a shopping center, swim club and elementary school. Throughout his career, Harold held senior positions with professional associations, including being president of the New Jersey Home Builders Association and vice president of the National Association of Home Builders. He was a past president of Temple Emanuel; one of the founding members of Cong. M’kor Shalom and served as president of the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey from 1966-1968. Harold also served as chairman of the New Jersey Housing Finance Agency for six years. After retiring to Florida, he participated actively in local activities such as exercise, leading health-related discussion groups, and Company A, a men’s club. Harold is survived by his loving wife Joyce; daughters Randi (Chris) Rose, Barbara (Andy Pike) Sarshik, and Carol Sarshik and their mother, Fran Daniels; six grandchildren (Alex, Adrienne, Lizzy, Leah, Jenna and Allison) and one greatgrandchild; step-children Donald (Karen) Blum, Michael (Deborah) Blum, and Amy (Paul) Quigley; and six other grandchildren (Emily, Andrew, Zachary, Lindsay, Jake and Josh).
