ROSALIND “ROZ” JELLINEK (nee Gerling), of Voorhees, formerly of Cherry Hill, passed away on Oct. 24. Wife of Ernest “Ernie” Jellinek. Mother of Burt Jellinek of Marlton, the late Sheryl Wolf of Medford and Steven (Dr. Sharon Seiler Jellinek) Jellinek of Doylestown, PA. Grandmother of Joshua (Heather) Wolf, Matthew (Nichole) Wolf, Jacob (Brianna) Wolf, Samuel Jellinek, Sara Jellinek and Emily Jellinek. Great-grandmother of Madilyn, Grayson, Parker and Lincoln. Sister of the late Herbert Gerling. Roz was the first computer bookkeeper at Temple Emanuel starting in 1985 and retiring in 1992. She also was the Membership Chair of the Friends of the Cherry Hill Library and was instrumental in setting up and running the Friends Gift Shop at the Library. She grew up in Schenectady, NY and was valedictorian of Mount Pleasant High School when she graduated in 1941. She went to Albany State Teachers College, now SUNY Albany. In 1943, she met Ernest Jellinek, an engineer from Brooklyn, NY working at General Electric, at a Valentines dance at the JCC and they were married in February of 1945. In 1954, they moved to Marblehead, MA when Ernie became Chief Engineer at ECA in Cambridge MA and in 1958 they moved to Haddonfield, when Ernie became a Project Manager at RCA in Camden. They were members of Temple Emanuel since 1958, where Roz started the gift shop, taught Sunday School, and sang in the choir. After moving to Cherry Hill in 1979, she was on the Board of the Friends of the Cherry Hill Library. After moving to Lions Gate Continuing Care Retirement Community in 2007, Roz was active in the Lions Gate Spielers, a theatrical group of residents who entertain the community with original shows.
