Beth El hires Joshua Laster as new director

JOSHUA LASTER… Cong. Beth El’s new executive director. JOSHUA LASTER… Cong. Beth El’s new executive director. Cong. Beth El in Voorhees has announced the hiring of a new executive director. Joshua Laster will begin his position Oct. 1.

Laster has been working in the Jewish community since 1999 with a focus on Jewish communal service, youth work, education and programming. Prior to joining Beth El, he served as the executive director of Beth Chaim in Princeton Junction, NJ, and at Ohev Shalom in Wallingford, PA.

Before beginning his career as a synagogue executive director, he worked in IT sales with a focus on communications and software specific applications, as a full time Jewish youth professional, and as an elementary school teacher. He served as the waterfront director at URJ Camp Harlam for six years and is an active member of the Camp Harlam Council. He received his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Shippensburg University in 1997.

“I am so excited to begin my tenure at Beth El. I was impressed by the close community at Beth El and the dedication of its members to the success and well-being of the shul,” said Laster. “I’m looking forward to joining with the staff and lay leaders of this vibrant congregation and contributing positively to the promotion and growth of our Early Childhood Center and synagogue.” .
