JFund dollars are hard at work supporting Jews locally & around the world

Federation President

Thank you for supporting the Jewish Federation’s JFund, the fund for Jewish living, formerly known as our Annual Campaign. At this time of year, we go through the thoughtful process of allocating your gifts to support our community’s priorities.

Why give to the Federation? Because your dollars have real impact locally and around the world. Regardless of Jewish denomination, regardless of affiliation, the Jewish Federation cares about you and is making a difference everywhere.

First, your gifts go to support the local agencies we all love and cherish: the Katz JCC, JCRC, JFCS, and the Voice. The Jewish Federation is the careful steward of our facilities and makes sure each year to maintain the integrity of our buildings and properties so that we can all enjoy them for years to come.

We give small, but meaningful, allocations to Birthright Israel, BBYO, Gratz College, local Hillels, our area Jewish day schools, the Tri-County Board of Rabbis, the Jewish War Veterans, and more. We support a state and national infrastructure that provides speakers and best practices from around the country as well as benefitting from the collective having an impact on national decisions.

This past year, our communal dollars had extra impact overseas, supporting Lone Soldiers, those who serve in the IDF whose families live abroad, and a protected classroom for individuals with special needs at LOTEM. This amazing program makes nature accessible to over 30,000 children and adults with special needs, as well as at-risk youth and mothers and children residing in shelters for victims of domestic violence. That is in addition to our support for the Jewish communities in 70 countries around the world and in Israel.

Did you know that among those 70 countries, we support Jewish communities in Greece, Cuba, Turkey, and Morocco? And when disaster strikes, the infrastructure is in place to immediately help those in need, such as after the earthquakes in Haiti and Nepal.

Closer to home, we’ve leveraged our time and resources to decrease the burden on precious communal funds by submitting common bids for landscaping and snow removal for our synagogues. The Moorestown Jewish Association has benefited from our administrative support as they restructured for the coming year. And we have spent many hours partnering with our day schools as they create new ways to engage and educate our children—our future. Our Young Adult Division (YAD) honored individuals from all of the local organizations to create connections among our future leaders. The Federation Leadership Institute trained rising and current leaders from throughout the community at no charge to any organization, so that shared knowledge and innovative approaches could benefit all of our Jewish organizations.

That is just a taste of your JFund dollars at work! You should feel great pride in the impact that your gift and our Federation has on Jews around the world. I know I do!

There is still time to make a pledge or increase your pledge. You will feel good knowing that your dollars are making a difference each and every day! Visit www.jewishsouthjersey.org/jfund to learn more. . jfedpres@jfedsnj.org
