Our first event of the year was “Say Chai to Aefty!” We went mini golfing and then headed back to Adath for a barbecue. We had a lot of fun and cannot contain our excitement for our next event, which is going to be at Snipes Farm in Morristown, Pennsylvania for our annual corn maze trip on Oct. 17.

Something new with AEFTY this year is we have a new advisor, Derek Greeley. We are very excited to work with Derek. So far, he has really made a great impact at Adath. He has many great ideas for the youth at Adath and is going to make a great fit. Also, his dog Flapjack is awesome.

The High Holidays are here, and AEFTY is thrilled about it! We had an amazing Rosh Hashanah service for teens in grades 7-12 in the Outdoor Sanctuary at Adath. Also this year, we changed up the service for those in grades 3-6, and created a new program called Rak Noar. The Rak Noar service is led by Rabbi Monica Kleinman, and there are three teen song leaders, not to mention the four breakout programs are all teen driven and exciting. As I write this, AEFTY and Adath cannot wait for Yom Kippur! We (AEFTY board) put a lot of work into the service and we cannot wait to see how it will turn out.

There are some other events we are going to be having that we’re extremely excited for. We are going to be decorating our Sukkah during our Pizza in the Hut event on Sunday, Sept. 27, starting at 5 p.m. AEFTY is also going to be holding a Breast Cancer awareness service on Oct. 30. It’s a $5 to wear pink event, so wear pink and donate $5 to breast cancer research through an organization to be determined.
