OBITUARIES

DR. STANLEY AARON BELOFF, DPM, 86, of Ventnor, died on Mar. 16. Husband of the late Ruth Beloff and the late Mollie Braverman. Father of Sam (Dale) of Swedesboro, Donna (Dan) Wood of Cherry Hill, Gail of Crown Point, IN, Josh (Eva Corets) of Clyde Hill, WA, the late Bruce and the late Marc and Adam. Grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of two. Step-father of Carol Schreibman of Margate, Alan (Melody) Braverman of Boca Raton, FL, and Bennett (Deidre) Braverman of Boulder, CO. Stan “Doc” was born Stanley Bilofsky in Phila., and graduated from South Phila. High School for Boys. He enlisted in the US Navy at 17, earning the rank of Quartermaster Third Class. He was president and valedictorian of the Temple Univ. School of Chiropody, where he received a Doctor of Surgical Chiropody. He founded the South Phila. Ambulance Assoc., was the director of Podiatric Residency and chief of Podiatric Medicine at Broad Street Hospital, and taught at the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine.

MARK BRIAN COHEN, of Phila., formerly of Cherry Hill, died on Mar. 13. Son of the late Aaron and the late Norma (nee Berger) Cohen. Brother of Jay Cohen. Nephew of Edwin (Marlene Dippolito) Berger.

LORRAINE JEAN (nee Lehrich) CURSON, formerly of Cherry Hill and Phila., died on Feb. 16. Sister of Melvin (Anne) Lehrich and the late Thelma Faden. Mother of Diane Fisher and David (Susan) Curson. Grandmother of seven. She was a 1999 inductee into the Defense Industrial Supply Center Hall of Fame and was the 2003 Volunteer of the Year at the Saltzman House, where she resided until 2009. DR. SAUL GROSSMANN, of Haddon Heights, died on Mar. 17. Husband for 59 years of Miriam Grossmann. Father of Eve (Ari) Sky and the late Deena Grossmann. Grandfather of two. Brother-in-law of Doris Grossmann. Dr. Grossmann was a graduate of the Univ. of Pennsylvania and Temple Univ., where he earned his Ed.D. He taught at Furness Jr. High School for six years before becoming principal of Jones Junior HS and then becoming District Superintendent in South and Central Phila. After retiring, Dr. Grossmann became a consultant for the NJ Dept. of Education working to improve Camden Schools. After 38 years as a teacher at Temple Beth Sholom’s Religious School, he became a member of the Board and later served as president and then president of the HAZAK Chapter as well as a past president of Educators Unit of B’nai B’rith. SANDRA “SANDY” (nee Golden) KATZ, 74, of Cherry Hill and Longboat Key, FL, died on Mar. 16. Wife for 52 years of Robert “Bob” Katz. Mother of Howard Katz of Blackwood and Susan Katz of Tucson, AZ. Sister of Larry (Sue) Golden. She was born and raised in Phila. She owned a sportswear boutique in Cherry Hill in the 1970s, was an advertising sales rep for the Shopper’s Guide and an advertising account executive for Comcast. After she retired, she went on to study ceramics, where her work was exhibited in galleries in Haddonfield and Phila.

MAYER SAMUEL REICH, 86, of Cherry Hill, died on Mar. 16. Husband of the late Marion. Father of Daniel (Janice) Reich, Simcha (Jennifer) Reich and Lawrence (Ilene) Reich. Brother of Pace (Marylou) Reich. Grandfather of seven. Contributions can be made to the Marian B. Reich Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O Beth Judah Synagogue, 700 N.
