Now is the time to step up and help your fellow Jews

During the past several months, dozens of Jewish Federation volunteers and staff have spent countless hours gearing up for Super Sunday 2012, the annual phone-a-thon to raise money for Jews in need at home, in Israel, and around the world. Those volunteers will be at the Katz JCC this Sunday, Jan. 29, but they need your help. Super Sunday cannot happen without the hundreds of volunteers manning the phones.

More dollars are raised for the Jewish Federation Annual Campaign on Super Sunday than any other day of the year. It is the most important day of tzedakah for our community.

A few dozen volunteers and staff can’t do the job alone. They need you to be at the JCC to help reach out and raise the money to feed the hungry in our community, keep shelters for battered women open in Israel, and pay for heat in the apartments of the elderly in the former Soviet Union.

If you think it’s cold here, imagine what it must be like for an elderly Jewish woman, with little food, freezing in a dilapidated apartment in the Ukraine. Where would she be without food and heat purchased with funds raised on Super Sunday?

A few hours of your time can help raise the dollars that will save lives. It is a mitzvah that will help others while giving you a good feeling about your place in the Jewish world.

The Jewish Federation has made sure that the phones will be there, the balloons will be there, and the food will be there. You need to be there too. Include Super Sunday in your plans. Be part of Super Sunday. Bring your friends, and help do a world of good.
