17 charged with fraud at Claims Conference

Former and current employees of the Claims Conference are among 17 people who have been charged by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New York with participating in a $42.5-million fraud at the organization.

The alleged ringleader oversaw two funds from which tens of millions of dollars allegedly were obtained fraudulently from the Claims Conference, which distributes more than $400-million per year from the German government to victims of Nazism. (JTA)
