Final preparations underway for Super Sunday/Super Week
SUPER SUNDAY 2010
Final details are being completed for the Jewish Federation’s annual community-wide phone-a-thon, Super Sunday, set for Sunday, Jan. 31 from 9:30 a.m.-8 p.m. at the Weinberg Jewish Community Campus in Cherry Hill. Super Week will follow, running Feb. 1-4 from 6-9 p.m. at the offices of the Jewish Federation, also located on the Weinberg Campus. Super Sunday, presented by Maple Shade Mazda and Turnersville Mazda, is the Jewish Federation’s largest fundraising event to benefit its Annual Campaign. On that one day, hundreds of volunteers will come together to build community and help repair the world using the buttons of a telephone. “With all of today’s challenges, more and more people are coming to Federation for assistance, and this year’s Super Sunday is extremely important to help ensure that our local and overseas agencies have the resources to meet these growing needs,” said Ron Lieberman, Super Sunday co-chair with David Zive. “This is a truly incredible day, and we invite everyone in the community to invest just three hours as a Super Sunday volunteer. You’ll feel so good about helping so many people in Southern New Jersey and around the world.” Four volunteer shifts will be held on Super Sunday. Shift 1: 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; Shift 2: 12 p.m.-3 p.m.; Shift 3: 2:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.; or Shift 4: 5 p.m.-8 p.m. An exclusive teen shift will be held from 2:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. for ages 11 and older. Members of all segments of the community, including Federation board and agency members, synagogue members, Jewish organizations, youth groups and aspiring leaders are strongly encouraged to participate in Super Sunday/Super Week 2010. Volunteers are still needed to make phone calls, assist with clerical duties or help with babysitting. Babysitting will be available for children ages 1-10 during Shift 2 and Shift 3. Children will enjoy music with entertainer and songwriter Janet Sclaroff and interactive science activities compliments of the Garden State Discovery Museum. Community members are also invited to have a “splashtastic” time at Super Splash Sunday at Sahara Sam’s Oasis Indoor Waterpark on Jan. 31. Participants will enjoy discounted admission, kosher snacks and supervised full waterpark access. A portion of each ticket sold will be donated back to the Jewish Federation. Participation in Super Sunday activities is not required for Super Splash Sunday. This special promotion runs through Feb. 4. Help do a world of good!
