Sixty-six Jewish athletes and nine artists and musicians from South Jersey represented the Katz JCC during the recent JCC Maccabi Games and Maccabi ArtsFest. Athletes competed in San Antonio, Texas, where the boys' soccer and bowling teams scored big. The soccer team went undefeated in the preliminary round, coming home with a silver medal. All seven bowlers walked away with medals. Another athletic delegation competed in New York in boys' and girls' basketball, swimming, tennis, golf and baseball, bringing home medals in boys' basketball, tennis and swimming. The nine aspiring Maccabi ArtsFest artists and performers had a once in a lifetime experience in Orange County, Calif., as they competed in photography, film, visual arts, jazz, and musical theater, and learned from artists in residence.
