JCC campers help the needy with donations to JFCS Pantry
     Campers from the JCC Camps at Medford collected non-perishable kosher food for the Samost Jewish Family and Children's Service Food Pantry. The food drive was spearheaded by the Gesher CITs and held during Spirit Week. The effort yielded over 20 boxes of food. The JFCS Food Pantry provides food to individuals and families in need throughout the South Jersey area. Helping to stock the shelves were (from left), Camp Gesher CITs Ashley Aliaga, Sam Moir, Thomas Haslam, Emily Kahn, Alexa Vecchio and Tori Chapman.

Federation supporters attend 'Upside of Memory' screening
      Nearly two dozen supporters of the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey were among the 130 guests who viewed a recent screening of "The Upside of Memory," a film about the Holocaust and its survivors. The film was shown at the studios of WHYY in Philadelphia.

JCF collaborates with JSHHS to establish philanthropic funds
      In the world of philanthropy, gifts can often come from the unlikeliest of places. The Jewish Community Foundation (JCF) recently worked with Jewish Senior Housing and Healthcare Service (JSHHS) to initiate three separate funds totaling $1-million. The funds, which benefit seniors, came in the form of a bequest from a woman named Tillie Mayer who recently passed away.

Saltzman scores at JCC Camps
     Stuart Alperin, executive director of the Raymond & Gertrude R. Saltzman Foundation, checks out the new Bankshot Basketball court at the JCC Camps at Medford. Alperin, a former JCC Camps director, recently visited the camp. The Saltzman Foundation is a major donor to the Camp Scholarship Fund and the Open Hearts/Open Doors program for children with special needs.

Tepper League winners celebrate
     The winners of the first Martin Tepper Memorial College Basketball League celebrate their recent victory. The Tepper League is the first summer basketball league for college students at the Katz JCC. Six teams competed in the league, whose play was made possible by a donation from the Tepper family. Members of the winning team were (from left), Josh Lahav, Matt Malinowski, Francis Longo, Ben Nechemia, Matt Beck, Ryan Suli, Aaron Fuhrman, and Bill Melleby. Also on the winning team was Matt Korach.

      Rose Schmuckler's talent is astounding for someone who has only been painting for 14 years. Her colors are vibrant, and her artwork skillfully created. But what is truly incredible is that she was 80 years old the first time she held a paintbrush.

      The Jewish Athletic Group (JAG) Softball Championships were held recently with a best out of three series being played for each of the three divisions. Championships for the A Division, B1 Division and the newly formed B2 Division were hotly contested.

      Over 1,600 campers and 600 staff enjoyed a sun drenched and fantastic summer at the JCC Camps at Medford. Jewish activities, sports, and friendship helped make the JCC Camps' summer extra special. The JCC Camps has been creating summer memories for seven decades.

Jewish-themed romantic comedy arriving in area
      "Play the Game," a Jewishthemed romantic comedy starring Paul Campbell, Andy Griffith and Doris Roberts, is coming to area theaters beginning Friday, Aug. 28. Written and directed by Marc Fienberg, the movie is the tale of a ladies' man who teaches his dating tricks to his lonely grandfather. The film won the Audience Award at the Ft.
