SEAN O'HAIR…PGA Tour golfer will host clinic. Professional golfer Sean O'Hair, currently the only American golfer in his 20s with three PGA Tour victories, will be hosting a golf clinic following the 23rd annual Woodcrest Country Club Invitational Pro- Am on Monday, July 27. O'Hair's appearance is sponsored by TaylorMade Golf. O'Hair recently won the 2009 Quail Hollow Championship and placed second in the 2009 Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill.
Since 1984, the Woodcrest Pro-Am has helped provide scholarship money for children with financial and special needs to attend the Katz JCC Camps at Medford. Many of the children who have benefited from these funds participate in the Open Hearts/Open Doors Program at the camp, which allows children with physical and emotional special needs to attend the camp and participate alongside typical campers.
The tournament will feature morning and afternoon golf rounds, where sponsors and golfers will play with local PGA professionals. Golfers will have the opportunity to win raffle prizes, door prizes and team prizes. A breakfast, brunch, evening cocktail party and dinner will turn a great day of golf into an all-day social event with everyone leaving a winner. The day will not only raise money for a great cause, but will also allow the community to recognize Steven Shapiro with the Daniel B. Toll Humanitarian Award, an award presented annually to an exemplary philanthropic community leader.
According to event co-chair Steven Schwartz, "The Pro-Am is a wonderful opportunity for golfers to play one of the finest courses in South Jersey while participating in one of the highest pursed Pro-Am tournaments in the Philadelphia section of the PGA."
The Woodcrest Country Club Pro-am allows golfers to combine their passion for golf and their concern for children. According to Jeffrey Herskowitz, event co-chair, "During the past 23 years, the Woodcrest Pro-Am has allowed over 5,000 children to participate in a positive summer camping experience."
