Rabbi David joins Komen board
      Rabbi Jerome P. David of Temple Emanuel has been named to the board of directors of the Philadelphia affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The organization, founded in 1982, raises money for research and awareness of breast cancer.

Cong. Saxton honored by PAC

Rabbi Wernick chosen for post
      Rabbi Steven Wernick has been tapped to lead the Conservative movement's synagogue association. He will succeed the retiring Rabbi Jerome Epstein as executive vice president of the United Synagogue for Conservative Judaism. Wernick is well known in Southern New Jersey, having served as assistant rabbi at Temple Beth Sholom in Cherry Hill.

Extraordinary woman fills a special niche at Katz JCC
      Courtney Lou Smolley maneuvers her walker around the Katz JCC social hall with steely determination. Three mornings a week, the Shamong 25-year-old sets the tables prior to senior adult lunches. She puts out the plates, the utensils and the cups, one by one for each spot at the 10 tables.
