Calling all Volunteers! We Need You for Super Sunday/Super Week 2009

Super Sunday/Super Week, the annual phone-a-thon to benefit the Jewish Federation Annual Campaign is quickly approaching! More than 500 volunteers, young and old, are needed on Sunday, Jan. 25 from 9 a.m. 8 p.m. at the Weinberg Jewish Community Campus in Cherry Hill to help with this massive community-wide effort. Follow up calls will be made from Jan. 26-29 to those not reached on Super Sunday.

The funds raised during Super Sunday/ Super Week will support a wide variety of local programs and services including Jewish day schools and camp scholarships, counseling services for individuals and families, emergency financial assistance, hot meals and food pantry supplies, programs for the developmentally disabled and services for the elderly.

Dollars are also allocated overseas to provide education, social service and cultural programs for Jewish communities in Israel and 60 countries worldwide.

Volunteers are needed from all segments of the community, including Federation agency board members, local Jewish organizations, synagogue members and teens. There is something for everyone to do, whether it's making calls, assisting with clerical duties or being a part of Mitzvah Camp—an engaging craft program for three to 10 year olds that teaches children about the joy of performing a mitzvah.

Interested in coming as a group? Federation will reserve a block of phones during a particular shift for your group or organization. Wearing identifying t-shirts is also encouraged. New volunteers are welcome to participate. Training is provided prior to each shift.

Super Sunday shifts are: Shift 1: 9am-12pm, Shift 2: 11am-2pm, Teen Shift: 1:15pm-3:15pm (teens only), Shift 3: 3pm-6pm and Shift 4: 5pm-8pm. Babysitting is available during shifts 2 and 3. Super Week will follow on January 26- 29 from 6-9 p.m. in the Federation Board Room. A complimentary dinner will be served each evening during Super Week.
