COMMUNITY SALUTES ISRAEL AT 60

RABBI JERRY DAVID David Ben-Gurion, the first Prime Minister of the modern State of Israel, once reflected, "In Israel in order to be a realist, you must believe in miracles." So it is said that Israel at 60 is nothing less than a miracle. In spite of all the conflicts, threats and challenges, we celebrate the vitality and vibrancy of Israel which has accomplished so much in its first 60 years. We marvel at the contributions Israeli citizens have made to science and education, literature and technology. We rejoice in the ingathering of our people from over seventy countries around the world. And we pray that just as Israel has been a blessing to us, so may we be a blessing to Israel.

May the One who causes peace to reign in the high heavens, cause peace to reign among us, all Israel, and all the world.
